Summary of policy
Roadside repairs (up to 60 minutes labour charges) Recovery to local garage (guarenteed within 60 minutes if repairs cannot be effected at the roadside) Car hire/public transport costs (covered if the occupants are leaving the car for local repair. Also covers return trip for 1 person to collect the car) Hotel accomodation costs if the occupants are staying nearby while the car is being repaired by a local repairer. Only covers one night's accommodation costs - food and other incidental expenses are not included.

(1) If the vehicle registered with the provider is immobilised because of a Breakdown within the Territorial Limits the insurance covers: (a) Call out fees and up to 60 mins labour charges for repairs to the Vehicle carried out at the scene of the Breakdown and/or (b) If the Vehicle cannot be satisfactorily repaired at the roadside within 60 mins, the cost of transporting the Vehicle and up to six passengers including the driver to the nearest garage able to repair the Vehicle within 24 hours or such other period as the provider may agree. (c) If the Vehicle cannot be repaired at the garage within 24 hours or such other period as the provider may agree then, after agreement between the Insured and the provider. EITHER The costs of alternative road or rail travel for up to six passengers including the driver to travel from the scene of the Breakdown to one destination within the Territorial Limits plus a return journey for one person to collect the Vehicle after repair. OR The cost of one night's emergency hotel accommodation in the vicinity of the Breakdown for the vehicle passengers including the driver.
Any costs for items other than accommodation are not included. The maximum payment will be £200 per accident or Breakdown. OR The cost of a suitable hire car for a maximum of two periods of 24 hours. The first period is to take passengers to their destination within the Territorial Limits, the second to recover the repaired Vehicle if travel to recover the Vehicle cannot conveniently be achieved by other means. OR The cost of transporting the Vehicle and up to six passengers to any destination within the Territorial limits.2. If the insured, having started a journey as sole driver of the Vehicle, cannot continue because of illness or injury or because of shock or distress following an assault or mugging the insurance covers:The costs of alternative road or rail transport for the Insured to one destination within the Territorial Limits plus a return journey for one person to collect the Vehicle.
Home service
Home Service cover extends to cover call out fees and labour charges to a maximum of 60 mins for repairs to the vehicle carried out at the scene of the Breakdown within 1 mile of the address registered with the provider and if the vehicle cannot be repaired there, recovery to the nearest garage able to complete the repairs.
Definitions
Vehicle means the Vehicle registered with the provider. » The Vehicle must not be greater than 3.5 tonnes or more than 17 feet long, 6 feet 3 inches wide and 8 feet high or more than 20 years old or a taxi, private hire vehicle, or a vehicle used for self-drive hire.Named Insured means the person registered with the provider. » Insured means the Named Insured and any authorised driver of or passenger in the Vehicle at the time of the Breakdown. » Breakdown means an electrical or mechanical failure or a road traffic accident or damage caused by vandalism or theft which immediately renders the Vehicle immobilised. » Territorial Limits means Great Britain, Northern Ireland, Channel Islands, Isle of Man, Republic of Ireland, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Andorra, Greece, Italy, Luxembourg, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, San Marino, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland, Vatican City.
Exclusions
This Insurance does not cover: (1) The recovery of a trailer/caravan unless it is less than 23 feet in length and safely attached to the Vehicle in the normal manner at the time of the Breakdown and has a standard towing hitch. (2) The cost of any parts, components or materials. (3) The cost of food, drinks, telephone calls or other incidental expenses. (4) The cost of petrol, oil or insurance for a hire vehicle. (5) Any costs which may be recoverable under any other insurance. (6) The recovery of the Vehicle and passengers if repairs can be carried out at or near the point of the Breakdown within a reasonable time. (7) Overnight accommodation costs and car hire charges if repairs can be carried out at or near the point of the Breakdown within a reasonable time. (8) The cost of the recovery of the Vehicle to more than one address in respect of any one Breakdown. (9)
Breakdowns caused by failure to maintain the Vehicle in a roadworthy condition including the maintenance of proper levels of oil and water. (10) Breakdowns caused by the vehicle running out of petrol or where prompt service cannot be effected because the vehicle does not have a serviceable spare wheel. (11) Breakdowns where the vehicle is not accessible or cannot be transported safely and legally using a standard transporter or trailer. (12) Breakdowns occurring when the vehicle is being used for motor racing, rallies, speed or endurance tests or practises for those activities, or for self drive hire. (13) Breakdowns occurring when the vehicle is carrying more people than it is designed to carry. (14) The charges of any company or person other than the recovery agent called out by the provider or of car hire or accommodation charges other than those sanctioned by the provider and for which a reference number has been given.Claims where the providers Helpline has not been notified promptly of the Breakdown prior to expenses being incurred. (16) Claims where charges incurred have not been settled promptly by the Insured. (17) Claims directly or indirectly caused by or contributed to or arising from: (a) Ionising radiations or contamination by radioactivity from an irradiated nuclear fuel or from any nuclear waste from the combustion of nuclear fuel. (b) The radioactive, toxic, explosive or any other hazardous properties of any nuclear assembly or from any nuclear component thereof. (c) War, invasion, acts of foreign enemies, hostilities (whether war be declared or not), civil war, rebellion, revolution, insurrection, military or usurped power or confiscation or nationalisation or compulsory purchase, requisition or destruction of or restrictions to or controls placed on or damage to property by or under the order of any Government or Public or Local Authority. (18) Any claim which is false or fraudulent. (19) Any charges arising from the Insured's failure to comply with the requests of the provider or its agents concerning the assistance being provided to the Insured. (20) Claims where the registration number of the Vehicle has not been registered with the provider. (21) Fines or penalties imposed by courts.
Any charges where, having contacted the provider, the Insured effects recovery or repair by other means. (23) Any claim relating to the following types of vehicle: (a) In excess of 3.5 tonnes. (b) More than 17 feet long, 6 feet 3 inches wide and 8 feet high. (c) More than 20 years old (d) A taxi, private hire vehicle (e) Vehicles used for self-drive hire. (24) Ferry charges and tolls (25) Claims totalling more than £25,000 in any year in respect of any one vehicle (26) Any Breakdown not occurring during the membership period. (27) The Vehicle being temporarily disabled by floods, ice, snow affected roads or being embedded in sand or mud. Conditions (1) The Underwriters or the Named Insured may cancel the insurance by giving seven days notice in writing to the other. A pro rata proportion of the premium shall be returned unless there has been a claim in which case no premium shall be returned. (2) Compliance with the terms and conditions of this insurance is a condition precedent to any liability of the Underwriters to make any payment.
The claims procedure described in the Membership Certificate must be strictly complied with. (4) The Vehicle must be maintained in a safe and roadworthy condition and serviced regularly during the period of insurance. (5) The Named Insured shall take all reasonable steps to have permanent repairs effected to his/her Vehicle following a Breakdown. If he/she fails to take such steps then the provider may refuse to provide assistance if the same fault recurs. (6) The Insurance is limited to the Vehicle described in the schedule.
The provider must be advised of a change in Vehicle and the change will be recorded without cost to the Insured. (7) If the Insured has a right of action against a third party the Insured shall co-operate with the provider to recover any costs incurred by the provider. If the Insured is covered by any other insurance policy for any costs incurred by the provider the insured shall claim these costs and reimburse the provider. Any dispute between the Insured and the Underwriters shall be referred to the arbitration of a single arbitrator. Such arbitration shall be in accordance with the provisions of the arbitration acts then in force, and shall be binding on the parties.
